You should have ventured outside Avenida Marginal and see more and learn about the British connections during the “coal era”. There was no volcanic ash, but fine sand/dust that came from the mainland! What about the name of the islands? You met a few hustlers and you categorized their demeanor as norm for a whole nation! How superficial!!! They may be poor but you sound more like a miserable bully. Your narrow minded account on this blog is just a malicious attempt to put down anything Europe… open up your mind and the rest will follow! You just talk nonsense to give readers the wrong impression that you are cultured (ie. you telling apart Brazilian versus Cape Verdean music)Next time (we hope for their own sake it will never happen), but if it does try some of the local gastronomy, you may just have the best fish and chips of your vague live. STRELA BEER suck!PS: Horace Silver is Capeverdean-American!OOhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82vdLXWkatUnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30743480.post-69634410881729185922011-08-27T01:01:57.058+01:002011-08-27T01:01:57.058+01:00Good lord,

(And that's not being hyperbolic at all. I've, like, seen the world. And stuff.)

And plenty other islands are beautiful as well (e.g., Fogo, Brava, Santiago).

It's one of my favourite places in the world, even more amazing than, say, New York City (which I feel compelled to call a depressing dump based upon that one evening I spent in Queens).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30743480.post-59253878611283898172011-05-04T06:41:16.043+01:002011-05-04T06:41:16.043+01:00Apologies to my foul mouthed fucking anonymous pos...Apologies to my foul mouthed fucking anonymous posters.

I spent one night there. You've "passed" through Mindelo in St. Vincent, a tiny island in the Cape Verdean context and feel entitled to lecture others?

Rob (a Brit, thank you very much).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30743480.post-26120998366372745312011-04-09T09:14:32.751+01:002011-04-09T09:14:32.751+01:00Interesting.You know that Cabo Verde as whole is t...Interesting.You know that Cabo Verde as whole is ten islands? Where you visited was like going to a hillbilly farm in east bum fuck Tennessee. The capital is Praia.Which I wish you ended up there so you could've shut your big, boojee, ignorant ass up.You seem like a smart guy. You had balls or as you say it "gulls" to write a book. Do some research on Cabo Verde and look at some pics of other islands and then maybe that will answer your question on why Cape Verdeans fought for their freedom from Portugal. There is also many great accomplished ppl who are from there. RESEARCH BEFORE YOU WRITE A CHAPTER ON SOMETHING YOU REALLY DON"T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT!!! Visiting one area doesn't represent the rest of the islands and its people! Thank you..
